Preserve liberty by educating one million Americans
Over the past few years, more and more Americans have seen—and felt—their liberty being eroded by an increasingly vast bureaucratic state that is becoming more and more despotic.
This God-given liberty, secured by the Constitution, is the foundation of our great country and the key to America’s 200-year ascendancy. If so-called progressives in government are allowed to continue to ignore the Constitution and undermine the principles of liberty, our country faces a grave future.
Thomas Jefferson once said, “Above all things I hope the education of the common people will be attended to, convinced that on their good sense we may rely with the most security for the preservation of a due degree of liberty.“
That’s why Hillsdale College seeks to educate as many Americans as possible, especially about the Constitution, America’s founding principles, and free-market economics. By doing so, we can restore and defend liberty from the progressive attacks on it.
Teaching one million Americans to impact our nation
You’ve probably heard about our goal to teach the principles of liberty to one million Americans through our free online courses such as “Constitution 101,” “Economics 101,” “American Heritage,” and “The Federalist Papers”. As of today, thanks to your support, we’ve educated more than 835,000 of our fellow countrymen, strengthening their love of liberty and equipping them to defend it.
These courses transform those who take them—which can and will profoundly impact our nation for the better—which is especially important as we choose new leadership in the coming months.
Not one penny from the government
This large educational outreach effort is privately funded by the generosity of Americans such as you. To maintain its independence from bureaucratic meddling, and because we believe it unconstitutional, the College does not accept one penny of federal funding—even indirectly in the form of federal student grants and loans.
But time is working against us—though we’ve made great strides, we know we must educate more Americans, and soon, if we are to stop the erosion of our freedom. Education, as Jefferson said, informs the “good sense” that secures liberty.
That’s why the College seeks to accelerate this next phase of the plan and reach more of our fellow Americans than with its educational outreach.
ill you help fuel the movement to restore America’s founding principles by educating millions more Americans?
Teaching and instilling a love of liberty in millions more Americans can change the course of this nation—away from bureaucratic despotism, toward liberty. Your generous gift will help Hillsdale achieve this goal and continue to defend liberty in our great nation.
